Run this as a completely new chat. No saved custom instructions, no project context attached. I want my real, unassisted baseline.
Prompt:
“First, before any questions: guess how many hours a month you think
you lose re-explaining context to AI tools. Just a gut number, don't
overthink it. Lock it in, you'll compare it at the end.
Now ask me these questions one at a time, wait for my answer before
moving to the next. Push for a real number even if I want to guess low,
don't accept vague ranges without picking a single number from them.
- How many separate AI chats do you start in a typical week? Of those,
how many require you to re-explain your project, role, codebase, or
ongoing work before you can ask your real question?
- Pick your last one of those re-explaining chats. How many minutes did
you spend re-explaining before the AI understood what you needed?
3 min = light, 8 min = normal, 15+ = bad. Pick one number.
- Separate from question 1: how many times this week did you paste the
same background or project summary into a brand new chat because the
old one lost it? And on average, how many minutes did each of those
pastes take, start to finish?
- Now think of ONE specific bad incident this week, a moment an AI gave
you a wrong or generic answer because it didn't know your history.
This should be a distinct event, not one of the chats you already
counted in question 1. How many minutes did it take to catch the
mistake and fix it?
- Do you currently use any tool that's supposed to remember context
for you (ChatGPT memory/Projects, Notion, Rewind, a notes doc you
manually copy in), or do you start from zero every time?
Now do the math out loud, step by step:
- Weekly minutes = (Q1 recurring chats x Q2 minutes) + (Q3 count x Q3
minutes) + Q4 minutes
- Monthly minutes = weekly x 4.3
- Monthly hours = monthly minutes / 60
- Monthly cost = monthly hours x $50/hr
Place me on this scale using the HOURS number only, nothing else:
Tier 1 — under 1 hr/month
Tier 2 — 1 to 4 hrs/month
Tier 3 — 4 to 8 hrs/month
Tier 4 — 8+ hrs/month
Then, separately, comment on whether my answer to question 5 is actually
reducing this number or not. Be blunt if it isn't.
Finally, compare my Tier hours number to my original guess from the
start. Tell me the gap in hours, and one blunt sentence on what that
gap means. Then end with one sentence: what this costs me in a year
if nothing changes.”
